This is a zine and an invitation to participate in a zine.
A zine exploring the tension between feeling seen and feeling watched, primarily but not exclusively in the context of
Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums (GLAM).
Art and literature provide a means to feel truly seen, so we collect these works and keep them under careful watch. That’s weird, right? What is the difference between seeing and surveilling? Can an institution protect both the art and the artist? What does it mean to care for an GLAM space, what are we protecting?

Do the ideas in this zine speak to you? Are you interested in participating in a zine like this one? Read on!

I feel weird and generally bad about the inequitable power structures of non-profits, including GLAMs. I worry about replicating those structures by stepping into an editor/publisher role. Instead, I invite you to participate in a collective zine project – let’s discuss these issues and concepts and work together to form the zine.
I can bring some knowledge of zine layout and printing, some art and writing, some perspective as a digital archivist and an independent artist. What would you like to bring for the zine? How do you want to work together on this? Wanna come over for coffee or tea and chat about it? Wanna meet up at a museum and count the number of security guards? Wanna meet up at a library to write and draw together?
Let me know!
